DATA ANALYST

Quantico/Stafford, VA

Position Description:

Claxton Logistics Services LLC, a leader in the training and education community, is looking for a qualified Data Analyst to join our team. The Data Analyst will apply their knowledge and experience using statistical software to analyze data and extract insights while supporting the United States Naval Community College (USNCC).

Qualifications:

Mid to Senior level expert with extensive knowledge and experience developing and applying analytic methodologies and principles within the scope area or function. Leads the application of analytic techniques and helps define project objectives and strategic direction. Is responsible for providing leadership and vision to project teams around the methodology. Resolves complex problems, which require an in-depth knowledge of analytic methodologies and principles. Directs the activities of more junior Analysts or other staff as necessary on activities related to the application of analytical techniques and methodologies. Demonstrated managerial and supervisory skills. Minimum of five (5) years of experience.

  • In-depth experience utilizing statistical software such R, SAS, Python, Tableau, SQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Qlik, Weka.
  • Proficient in Tableau statistical software for big data visualization and analysis.
  • In-depth experience using Microsoft Excel to develop Pivot Tables, charts, modelling data to determine relationships, trends, and patterns.
  • Skill using analytics software such as Frontline Analytics Solver, Optimization, MatLab, and Mini-Tab.
  • Ability to design and develop databases for data mining and storage.
  • Knowledge, training and experience in data simulation and modelling with techniques such as Linear Optimization, Integer Optimization, Network Optimization, Heuristics, Monte Carlo Simulation, and queuing simulation.
  • Design, model and develop ad hoc Entity Relationship Models (ER).
  • Ability to design and develop decision support systems such as Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Visual Basic Application (VBA), HTML, and Citrix.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work schedules in an agile/scrum environment, including experience with project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, etc., and possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience using statistical analysis and business intelligence tools to present information for better decision-making.

Duties:

  • Under the direction of government personnel, provide oversight to ongoing projects to include developing project documentation, creating and updating schedules, monitoring performance, and anticipating and resolving issues that could place project objectives and timelines at risk.
  • Work with large datasets to identify trends, issues or other key information and visually presenting to inform decision-making at the College.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project specifications are understood and all tasks are aligned to USNCC master work schedule.
  • Communicate project status with USNCC leadership and key stakeholders using charts, timelines, and other written documentation.
  • Assist in developing various management tools such as RASCI Matrix and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to support USNCC leadership.
  • Perform data, cleansing, merging, and advanced analysis with statistical software such as R, SAS and SQL for understanding current issues, relationships and trends.
  • Experience using statistical analysis and business intelligence tools to present information for better decision-making.
  • Develop executive dashboards using Tableau and performing trend analysis which enables leadership to make informed decisions.
  • Serve as SQL database programmer and technical expert responsible for developing Data Manipulation Language (DML) and Data Definition Language (DDL) to improve the data structure within SQL databases.
  • Serve as expert in Visual Basic Application (VBA) programming code to identify and correct data problems and issues.
  • Assist in developing strategies to extract, resolve, and unify information of various types from numerous disparate data sources.
  • Organize and mine data sets of both structured and unstructured data.
  • Analyze and interpret data from multiple, at times disparate, sources utilizing statistical techniques.
  • Build visualizations such as dashboards, charts, graphs, and tables to report insights to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain, and monitor plans, policies, processes and procedures for data management, data governance, security, accessibility, use, storage, and disposal.
  • Locate, define, and make recommendations to government personnel on opportunities to increase efficiency.
  • Monitor and audit data quality.
  • Train end-users on reports and dashboards.
  • Schedule, coordinate, attend meetings and trainings with internal and external stakeholders as needed to accomplish data analyst performance requirements.
  • Provide general analytical support to senior leadership.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience performing the duties listed above.

  • Professionally certified utilizing statistical software such R, SAS, Python, Tableau, SQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Qlik, Weka.

Security Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a Government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and retain the designated Government clearance (Secret).
